The 111-day Soorya Festival begins today

The 111-day Soorya Festival being conducted as part of the 32nd anniversary of Soorya will be held from Monday, and will be on till  January 10, 2010. Soorya president Gopalakrishna Pillai and general secretary Soorya Krishnamoorthy said that over 1,500 artists from various parts of the country would be participating in the festival. This year’s Soorya Festival has been included in the Incredible India festival of the Tourism Department of the Government of India. Dr Jawahar Sarkar, Cultural Secretary of the Government of India, will inaugurate the festival at Tagore Theatre here at 6.45 p.m. on Monday. As part of the inaugural, the Samudra dance troupe will present ‘Ganeshasthuti’. Following this, the Soorya film festival to be held up to September 30 will be inaugurated. ‘Bhramaram’ is the inaugural film.
